Northwest Concert Band presents ‘Around the World in 90 Minutes’ on Nov. 10
The Northwest Concert Band announces its fall concert “Around the World in 90 Minutes” at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. Embark on a musical adventure with a selection of internationally themed concert band music. Be transported to exotic landscapes, diverse cultures and iconic destinations.
The program includes authentic folk songs as well as music to celebrate a country’s beauty or historic events. It also includes pieces composed/arranged by conductor Randy Steinberg. You will hear “Armenian Dances,” “Variations on a Korean Folk Song,” “American Pageant,” “Finiculi-Finicula Rhapsody,” “Esprit De Francaise,” “Amparito Roca,” “Canadian Trilogy,” and “In Darkest Africa,” and others.
The concert will be held at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows, 2720 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows. Admission is $10 for adults, payable at the door. Ages 18 and younger are free.

Randy Steinberg has conducted the band since May 2018. Steinberg, who plays trumpet, piano, bass clarinet, and viola, received his musical education at Roosevelt University, and has taught music as a high school band director. He also is a prolific arranger and composer.
Greg Mullen is assistant conductor and principal clarinetist in the band. Mullen also plays saxophone in area jazz bands. He began his musical career as a high school band director.
