Fox Valley Presbyterian Church to host Empty Bowls benefit Nov. 9

Help fight food insecurity in the Fox Valley and raise your awareness of local food issues. A “Feeding America” map shows that Kane County has a 10% level of food insecurity. That means about 50,000 people are choosing between rent and food.

You can help by attending the “Empty Bowls“ fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 East Side Drive in Geveva.

Doors open at 5 p.m. The artisan evening goes until 8 p.m. with dinner, live music, a pottery demonstration, Mocktails and a pottery sale.

As you wander through the festive spaces, you can select a beautiful hand-made bowl to use at dinner and keep as a reminder of local food insecurity.

Bowls have been donated by students and staff from The Fine Line and Water Street Studios as well as other local artisans. Dinner includes fresh salads, baguettes donated by Gather Bakery, hearty gourmet soups donated by local restaurants including Balmoral, FoxFire, and Thorabella, and yummy desserts.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased online or at the door. Visit www.foxvalleypres.org/calendar.

Bring your family and friends and sit together at beautifully decorated tables for eight. All proceeds go to local food banks including Northern Illinois Food Bank, Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, and Lazarus House.
