Arlington Heights author, Bryn Donovan, debuts novel set in Chicago

“Her Knight at the Museum,” in development for a Hallmark movie, is a magical romcom novel about a medieval knight who was turned to stone and an employee at the Art Institute of Chicago, who brings him back to life. It debuts in paperback, audiobook and ebook from Berkley, Penguin Random House on Nov. 12, and is available in all bookstores for preorder.

The author submitted the novel to an “open submission” period at Berkley that allowed authors to submit novels without an agent. “Her Knight at the Museum” was one of four novels chosen from more than 5,000 submissions. Donovan was offered a two-book deal and is currently penning the sequel.

The book has received positive advance reviews from Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and Booklist, who called it “a whimsical, witty, and wonderfully amusing romance.”

The final scene of the book takes place in Schaumburg. Chicago locations in the book include the Art Institute of Chicago, the Edgewater neighborhood, Macy’s on State Street, and Wrigley Field.

Donovan says, “It was very funny to imagine what Chicago and the suburbs would look like to a medieval knight. I tried to include a lot of humor and swoony romance to make this a fun, feel-good read.”

The public is invited to get a signed copy of the book at a launch party at noon on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Love’s Sweet Arrow, 17200 Oak Park Ave., Suite 103, Tinley Park. Bestselling romance author, Lana Harper, will be in attendance and will also sign books.
