‘Missing information’ is a blow to Harris
Either the Daily Herald national news department was on vacation recently or they just refuse to report on a major development in the presidential race that does not fit the narrative. So, I’ll take a stab to fill in the missing information.
Following the Republican National Convention and Biden’s campaign exit, the Teamsters commissioned a national electronic poll of its 1.3 million members, overseen by an independent third party. During a voting window from July 24-Sept. 15, rank-and-file Teamsters voted 59.6% for the union to endorse Trump compared to 34% for Harris.
Following the Democratic National Convention and recent presidential debate, the Teamsters commissioned independent polling firm Lake Research Partners to conduct the union’s final national survey. In the poll ending Sept. 15, rank-and-file Teamsters selected Trump by 58% for endorsement over 31% for Harris.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien stated, “Our final decision around a possible Presidential endorsement will not be made lightly, but you can be sure it will be driven directly by our diverse membership.”
Then, the Teamsters General Executive Board made their final decision: No endorsement for either candidate. So much for “driven directly by our diverse membership.”
When was the last time that the Teamsters did not endorse the Democratic candidate in a presidential election? This was a major blow to the Harris campaign. This “missing information” is a major blow to the readers of the Daily Herald.
