Des Plaines police investigate armed robbery at casino parking lot

Des Plaines police are investigating an armed robbery at the Rivers Casino parking lot.

A Palatine woman reported she, her husband and two others were leaving the casino at about 1:45 a.m. Monday when they encountered a masked suspect inside her vehicle, a white 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Three other men, whose faces were covered, were nearby, she told police. One was in front of the Jeep and two more were inside a silver Volvo.

When the husband attempted to confront the suspect in the Jeep, one of the men in the Volvo flashed a gun and told him to stop. The couple tried to flee but the suspect in the Jeep chased after them, grabbed the husband and snatched a silver necklace from around his neck.

The same suspect approached the couple’s friends and snatched a silver necklace from around the neck of a Vernon Hills man. The suspect ran back to the Volvo, and all four suspects fled.

The four victims all declined medical treatment.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to contact Des Plaines police at (847) 391-5400.
