Recognizing relationship to the natural world
This has been a very unusual year in my garden. And, everyone I normally talk gardening with has had a very similar experience. It was 88 degrees today in mid-September, and my jalapeno plants are producing more peppers. They only started flowering two weeks ago.
One political party acknowledges the existence of climate change, but still doesn’t have the will to actually make any of the changes they talk about, the changes that are actually necessary to avert climate disaster. The influence of money and power hold sway over them, too.
But, the other political party is led by someone who, despite a mountain of evidence proving him wrong, still clings to the delusion he won in 2020. He, most of his followers and the members of his party, hold tightly onto their refusal to accept the undeniable evidence of climate change. When asked what he would do to create economic change that would help most of us in reducing inflation and related matters, his answer - drill, baby, drill.
This mantra, along with numerous other expressions of antipathy toward the natural world, reflect the fact that the man, and the party he leads, simply refuse to recognize the relationship between man and the natural world.
