COD Police Department offers free safety course ‘Stop the Bleed’ Oct. 11

Learn lifesaving first aid skills through “Stop the Bleed,” an overview course of best practices in emergency situations where uncontrollable bleeding occurs, offered by the College of DuPage Police Department from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.

The course is free and open to the public and is held in the Berg Instructional Center, Room 1426, on COD’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. Registration is required.

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss in as quickly as five minutes. Bystanders will always be the first on the scene and be in a position to provide potentially lifesaving care until emergency responders arrive on the scene.

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call to action. The grass-roots effort encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency until professional help arrives.
