Prospect Marching Knights to host 28th Knight of Champions Band Competition Sept. 28 at Prospect High School

The Prospect Marching Knights, Prospect High School’s award-winning marching band, will host the 28th annual Knight of Champions Invitational Competition on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Prospect’s Gattas Stadium, 801 W. Kensington Road, in Mount Prospect. Ten bands from across the Chicago area will compete, and there will be an exhibition performance by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band.

The event also will feature a special exhibition performance by the Prospect Marching Knights (PMK), which is having an award-winning 2024 season so far.

On Sept. 21, the PMK was named Class 3A Regional Champions at the Bands of America Regional in Obetz, Ohio, a competition that featured 28 bands from six states. The PMK also won Class 3A Outstanding General Effect and placed fifth overall in the finals.

Community members are invited to come watch the PMK, the Blugold Marching Band and some of the finest high school marching bands in the area, as they compete for the Dave Morrison Grand Champion Traveling Trophy. The first band competes at 5 p.m., the PMK performs at 8 p.m., and the Blugolds at 8:15 p.m. The awards ceremony is at 8:30 p.m.

Competing bands include Providence Catholic High School, Argo Community High School, Glenbrook North High School, William Howard Taft High School, Huntley High School, Round Lake High School, Plainfield South High School, Lake Park High School, Fremd High School and Rolling Meadows High School.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at gofan.co/app/school/IL15628_1 (children ages 8 and younger are free). Tickets also are available at the gate. Event merchandise and concession stands with extensive offerings will be available.
