BatFest to fill downtown Batavia with family fun Oct. 26

Batavia Mainstreet is bringing back its annual Halloween-themed family event, BatFest, on Saturday, Oct. 26. There will be a variety of activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Batavia.

Show off your costume at the BatFest Community Parade. Lineup starts at 9:30 a.m. at Houston Street and Island Avenue, and the parade starts at 10 a.m.

The downtown trick-or-treating will be 10 a.m. to noon. You can also stop by the final Batavia Farmers Market of the season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Houston Street and the parking lot near Peg Bond Center.

Also, from 10 a.m. to noon, enjoy Super Mario World and face painting at New Moon Vegan, 119 S. Batavia Ave. The Joe & Dough Coffee & Mini Doughnuts food truck will be at The Wilson Street Mercantile, 1222 E. Wilson, and see “Magician & Balloons” at Hearth & Hammer, 160 First St.

Check out the Reptile Show at Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Ave., at 10, 11:15, 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Stop by the Reading Garden for fall songs and stories in “BatFest Stories” from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., educators from Incredible Bats will be at Sturdy Shelter Brewing, 10 Shumway Ave., and there will be BatFest booths and performances at the Peg Bond Center.

The Pumpkin Roll, hosted by Boy Scout Troop 6, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Houston Street and Batavia Avenue.

Come dressed up for the costume contest, sponsored by Arlo.Hendrix, at 12:15 p.m. at the Peg Bond Center.

It will be followed by the Batavia Animal Clinic Pet Costume Contest at 1 p.m.
