EV future problems
In the Daily Herald’s Sept. 11 edition there was an article about a Tesla semi-tractor fire in California. It took firefighters 50,000 gallons of water to put the battery out. In addition, they had to use aircraft to drop fire retardant on the immediate area as a precautionary measure. Firefighters said the fire reached temperatures of over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. (The truck fire was Aug.19 along interstate 80, about 70 miles northeast of Sacramento.)
Just think of what may have happened had this semi been on a bridge, especially a long traffic bridge with passenger vehicles and other trucks. Could very well have caused that bridge to collapse.
In addition, think of the water usage (and where firefighters would be able to get that much water each time one of these batteries caught fire) and other possibilities if the truck was transporting flammable materials. Better think twice about battery-powered vehicles.
