St. Charles library hosts beekeeping program Oct. 4

Local beekeeper Reid Root of the Fox Valley Beekeepers Association will present “The Art of Beekeeping” on Friday, Oct. 4, at the St. Charles Public Library.

Root will share his experiences as a beekeeper, explain how honey is made, and the importance of honeybees and other pollinators at 1 p.m. at the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Root also will provide an overview of working with honeybees, how honey is harvested, and what is involved in the keeping of bees and their colonies. He will discuss the supplies and equipment that are recommended for beekeeping.

The program is part of the library’s One Book, One Community series of programs.
