19-year-old passenger seriously hurt in single-vehicle crash in Wadsworth

A 19-year-old Kenosha, Wisconsin, man suffered life-threatening injuries while the driver received minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Wadsworth Sunday.

The driver, also 19 and from Kenosha, told authorities he was looking at his GPS when the Dodge Ram 1500 he was driving failed to properly negotiate a curve as it was heading northbound on Route 41 approaching Kelly Road.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a light pole, veered into a ditch, then was sent airborne, striking two trees before landing on the driver’s side, according to a preliminary investigation.

Both the driver and the passenger were trapped inside the vehicle.

Fire officials extricated the men, and both were transported to an area hospital.

The passenger sustained life-threatening-injuries and remains in critical condition. The driver sustained minor injuries.
