Seigle Foundation welcomes Fox Valley Food for Health as newest grantee
Seigle Foundation recently announces the award of $60,000 in grants to the following charitable organizations: Northern Illinois Food Bank, Food for Greater Elgin, and, for the first time, Fox Valley Food for Health.
“We are humbled to partner with the Seigle Foundation in a shared effort to serve those experiencing a health crisis in our community. Together, we seek to educate our youth and serve nutritious meals (free of charge) to those facing a serious health crisis. On behalf of the recipients, teens, volunteers, and staff, we are grateful for the Seigle Foundation engaging their generosity toward our mission of health and healing,” stated Chris May, executive director of Fox Valley Food for Health,
Their carefully designed menus are nutrient-dense and primarily plant-based, with an emphasis on clean, whole, organic and sustainable ingredients.
Sixty percent of their clients live alone or have little or no support. Without Fox Valley Food for Health’s support it would be difficult for friends and neighbors to be able to provide these nourishing whole food meals necessary for healing and recovery.
Through volunteers Fox Valley Food for Health integrates the compassion, energy and goodwill of teens and adults with the expertise and training of professional chefs, skilled gardeners and registered dietitians to serve the nutrition needs of seriously ill clients and their families
Seigle Foundation is interested in supporting the provision of basic nutrition to people who need it. This work may include the direct provision of food, as well as efforts to address food insecurity.
In addition to food, the foundation is focused on the arts, education, and housing. Nonprofit organizations serving the Elgin and Dundee communities are eligible to apply. For more information see SeigleFoundation.org.
