Mundelein music school awarded municipal grant

A Mundelein music school has been awarded a $2,500 municipal grant to purchase instruments and more.

The village board on Monday approved the grant for Stankovic Music Learning Center, 510 N. Lake St.

The business owners are planning to spend $5,000 on instruments, equipment and promotional material. The grant will cover half the cost.

The funds will come from the village's Stimulate, Training, Assist and Recover program, or STAR program. It was created in 2022 by the village's economic development commission and the village board as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The effort makes grants of up to $5,000 available to business owners, covering up to half the total cost of a project. The cash is doled out as reimbursements.
