League of Women Voters to host ‘Combating Voter Subversion’ Sept. 19
On Thursday, Sept. 19, the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn hosts its initial community meeting of the League’s 2024-25 year with “Combating Election Subversion.”
Guest speaker will be attorney Jared Davidson of ProtectDemocracy.org, a nonpartisan group that builds coalitions of conservatives, moderates, and progressives working to defend the principles of democratic government and the rule of law.
Davidson will speak about key election threats as we approach the November election.
League of Women Voters members and the community are welcome to attend this free event at 7 p.m. in the Clayton Room at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St. in Glen Ellyn.
Davidson is a seasoned litigator whose work focuses on creating a more representative and responsive democracy and also ensuring free and fair elections. He has significant experience leading complex civil litigation and class actions in federal and state courts across the country. Previously, he was a senior attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center where he led litigation and advocacy to reform America’s immigration and criminal law systems. Before SPLC, Jared served as a law clerk to Judge James L. Dennis of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and also worked as a litigation associate at Jenner & Block LLP.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grass-roots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels. The League strives not only to defend democracy, but to strengthen it as well.
