Lambs Farm celebrating new season with Fall on the Farm
Fall on the Farm returns this weekend to Lambs Farm in Lake County.
The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the facility, 14245 W. Rockland Road.
Lambs Farm was created with the mission to help people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives and connect with the human spirit, according to its website, lambsfarm.org. All proceeds from the event will go toward the continuation of this pursuit.
“It’s really just a celebration of our mission and the season,” said Marisa Rademaker, associate director of marketing and communications.
Fall on the Farm will offer a barrel train, farmyard animals, crafts, games and even a scavenger hunt. Most of these events are due to the farm’s partnership with the Lake County Farm Heritage Association.
Lambs Farm works to improve the event each year, hoping to spread its mission to a wider audience.
“This year we’re partnering with 102.3 Free Country’s Hannah Brummer … doing a live broadcast,” Rademaker said.
Lambs Farm originally began in 1961 as a pet shop before moving to its current location in 1965. Its efforts have grown to form five different businesses, programs, and participation in Special Olympics, according to Rademaker.
“The whole idea of Lambs was to give people with disabilities a place to work, live, and grow,” Rademaker said.
Children’s admission to Fall on the Farm is $15 and $8 for adults. This price includes access to all activities. It also grants visitors a ticket to begin the scavenger hunt, where guests will be able to explore numerous businesses and what they do.
“It brings a lot of people in and gives them a lot of exposure,” Rademaker said.
