CASA Kane County calls for 50 new volunteers to advocate for children in foster care
CASA Kane County stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, a network of trained community volunteers, supervised by professional staff, and appointed by the juvenile court judge, who serve as the voice for children in foster care.
These volunteers often become the one consistent figure in a child’s life, offering stability and advocacy throughout the often lengthy court process.
In 2023, CASA Kane County advocated for 663 children, the largest number in its 35-year history. However, the need continues to grow, and they are actively seeking 50 additional CASA/GAL volunteers to meet the increasing demand.
The volunteers are the backbone of the CASA Kane County organization, and they are always seeking individuals and organizations ready to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in need.
For more information on how to become a CASA/GAL volunteer, sign up to attend one of the upcoming general information meetings at casakanecounty.org/volunteer-information-meetings/.
It will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20; 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7; 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16; and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.
CASA Kane County offers numerous ways to get involved — whether through volunteering, donating, or connecting on social media and/or attending one of the community or fundraising events.
Together, we can ensure that every child has a voice and the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. Join CASA Kane County in making a difference — one child at a time.
CASA Kane County is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization, dedicated to advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are subsequently placed in foster care. They recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who serve as the child’s voice and the judge’s eyes and ears throughout the duration of their case in juvenile court. Its vision is for every child entering foster care in Kane County to be placed in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. CASA Kane County envisions that all children will be equipped with the tools, resources, and support to thrive, lead fulfilled and happy lives and reduce the likelihood of repeating the cycle of abuse.
