District 21, Advocate Children’s Hospital announce grand opening of District 21 Health Center

Ribbon-cutting to be held Monday, Sept. 16

Community Consolidated School District 21 and Advocate Children’s Hospital (Advocate) are proud to announce the grand opening of the District 21 Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing comprehensive health care services to the district’s students and staff.

Located in the district’s Community Service Center and Administrative Office building in Wheeling, this will be one of the only school-based health centers in Illinois offering care for children from preschool through eighth grade. The center, which will consist of four clinic rooms, two consult rooms, a lab, conference room and a large consult or activity room, will be staffed by four full-time employees: An advanced practice nurse, licensed clinical social worker, medical assistant and patient services representative.

The center will offer a wide range of services, including preventive care, wellness programs, mental health support, and vaccinations. By addressing the diverse health care needs of our community, the center aims to improve overall health outcomes and ensure that our students and staff have access to quality health care.

“We are excited to open the doors of the District 21 Health Center and begin serving our community with the high-quality care they deserve,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, superintendent of District 21. “This facility represents our district’s dedication to enhancing the health and wellness of our residents, and we look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of many.”

“We look forward to providing health services to the Wheeling community through this new partnership,” said Dr. Julie Holland, vice president, pediatric primary care, Advocate Children’s Hospital. “By providing year-round access to high-quality care for students and faculty, we are keeping them close to the classroom and strengthening our commitment to both health and education for our community.”

The celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the District 21 Community Service Center and Administrative Office, 959 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling.

Local officials, governmental organizations and media are invited to join the celebration and tour the new facility. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
