Man slightly injured in Aurora garage fire

One man was injured in a garage fire early Sunday morning in Aurora.

The Aurora Fire Department said it was called at 12:55 a.m. to the 600 block of Saddle Lane.

The homeowner tried to put the fire out and sustained a minor burn on an arm. He was treated at the scene.

There was heavy fire coming out of the garage, which was attached to a one-story house. The fire spread into the house.

Eight residents, including two children, were displaced.

“The quick actions of our firefighters prevented this fire from spreading further into the home. This is a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the dangers of trying to fight a fire yourself before help arrives,” Fire Chief David McCabe said in a news release.

The cause has not been determined.
