Germanfest flavors usher in fall festival season in Hoffman Estates

Alpine hats and lederhosen were in vogue during the Hoffman Estates Platzkonzert Germanfest at the Village Green Saturday.

The family Oktoberfest-style celebration included Hofbrau beer, authentic German Food, live music, stein-hoisting, a costume contest and free kids activities.

Germanfest continues from noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday, and dachshund races, which take place from 1:30 until 3, will be part of the fun.
