Wego Drama to go ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ Sept. 13-14

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues their 2024-25 theatrical season with the play “Alice in Wonderland: Down the Rabbit Hole.”

Based on the classic tale of “Alice in Wonderland,” this new and fresh version of the story is exciting for lovers of fantasy stories.

Mark Landon Smith’s adaptation brings an Alice that makes her own decisions and has a sassy aspect. The characters are all given modern twists, while keeping the absurdist humor. The love of this story is evident in this great stage production.

Senior Wilbur Cooper said, “The show is so clever. Moments from the original story are incredibly fresh for 2024.”

The Wego Drama season theme of “Love, Theatre” is perfect for this story. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14, at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St. in West Chicago.

Junior Matthew Krysinski said, “This show makes us laugh every day in rehearsal. I know the audience will, too. It is a perfect show for the whole family.”

The company of actors and crew for the show includes: Ava Bloniarz and William Wenberg, both of Carol Stream; Ryleigh Balo, Tyler Benton, Lilyana Bonilla, Guadalupe Carreto, Wil Cooper, Jordin Crudup, August Gutierrez, Allison Komaniecki, Matthew Krysinski, Elisa O’Brien, Alejandra Rocha, Oliver Ruiz, Gracie Thibault, Gabriel Valenzuela, Ja’Nyah Villa, and Dayan Zenteno, all of West Chicago; and Bo Dragosh and Caiden McDougall, both of Winfield.

The play is directed by Mark Begovich with technical direction and design by Christopher Jensen. Costumes are by Kimberly Maslo with hair and makeup by Jaime Elza and Sam Rebmann.
