Elgin Community College Foundation to host annual gala celebrating 75 years of achievements

The Elgin Community College Foundation invites the community to celebrate 75 years of achievements of students, faculty, and staff at the ECC Foundation’s gala “Decades of Dreams,” on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The gala, presented by OTTO, will be held at 5:30 p.m. at The Q Center, 1405 N. Fifth Ave. in St. Charles. Along with the college’s anniversary, the ECC Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary.

“ECC and our outstanding community have so much to celebrate at this year’s annual gala,” said Susan Taylor-Demming, executive director of institutional advancement and the ECC Foundation. “Being the college’s 75th anniversary, we are recognizing decades of dreams! It’s also a night to raise funds to continue supporting our current and prospective students on their path to success. We look forward to seeing everyone dedicated to helping ECC students build a bright future for themselves and our community.”

Tickets for the event, which include the ECC student showcase, a live auction, and dinner, are $175.

The 2024 honorees include Roger Smith (ECC Friend of Education Award), Rita Shaw (Exceptional Friend of the ECC Foundation Award), Danise Habun, and Rabbi Margaret Frisch Klein (Lasting Impact Award).

Organized by the ECC Foundation, the event’s proceeds go directly toward the Resources for Excellence Fund, which supports the areas of greatest student need, including emergency assistance and scholarship awards.

Robin Seigle, secretary of the ECC Foundation Board, and Linda Hefferin, ECC retiree and professor emerita, are the event co-chairs for the 2024 gala.
