Lake County Forest Preserves’ youth ranger program kicks off Saturday
The Lake County Forest Preserves’ Junior Ranger Program kicks off from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Heron Creek Forest Preserve in Long Grove.
The free event is intended for children, grades K-5 with the goal of getting more kids outside and informed about local wildlife, conservation, and nature.
The program was created by Girl Scout Cadettes in Lake Zurich, Troop 1897, and includes a printed workbook and award patch to those that finish the challenge.
Junior Ranger booklets will be available, with stations about wetlands, a nature hike and a seed craft to take home. Meet at Shelter A.
Heron Creek is at Old McHenry Road and Route 22. Visit lcfpd.org/calendar for information and trail map.
