Wayne Township Pantry receives $20,000 grant from the DeMoon Family Fund
The DeMoon brothers, Pat, Anthony and Paul, recently visited the Wayne Township Food Pantry to present a $20,000 check to fund the pantry’s Milk Program for the second year in a row.
The township food pantry serves approximately 800 households a month with an assortment of perishable and nonperishable food products including fresh milk.
The pantry took a client survey a few years ago asking people what food products they would prefer to receive; fresh produce and milk were the top answers.
Fresh produce was accessible through the local food bank, but milk was a commodity that was unaffordable to the pantry’s budget. Then the DeMoon family stepped in to help start the milk program and their support has been invaluable to families facing food insecurity ever since.
The DeMoon family makes it very clear that they are strict with the projects they fund and expect the best practices to be followed by their grantees. Wayne Township is honored to be the recipient of a $20,000 grant to continue funding the milk program for the next 12 months.
“We are very grateful for the trust the DeMoon brothers have put in our programs and for their partnership in making a positive impact in our community,” says Juanita Martinez, director of Wayne Township’s General Assistance Office.
The Wayne Township Food Pantry has three weekly food pantry distributions (drive-through senior walk-up market, and online market), and all three have custom milk choices from skim to lactose-free.
