Naperville Jaycees honor longtime member in parade

The Naperville Jaycees will remember a beloved member during this year’s Labor Day parade.

Longtime member Al DeGeeter, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2017 and passed in 2023, has been named this year’s grand marshal. The Naperville Jaycees will collect donations along the parade route to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of DeGeeter’s memory and Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month in September.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday and will wind its way through downtown Naperville.

The Jaycees will walk with 20 Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation members and their families to collect donations during the parade. Moser Tower also will be lit with blue lights on Sept. 1 and 2 in honor of Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month.
