American Legion to hold golf outing fundraiser

The Palatine American Legion Post 690 is holding a golf outing on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Old Orchard Country Club at 700 W. Rand Road, Mount Prospect, as a fundraiser for Legion Charities.

The outing includes 18 holes of golf at Old Orchard followed by a dinner and prize presentations.

The cost of the outing is $125 per golfer or $500 for a foursome. Opportunities for sponsorship are also available.

Checks should be written to the American Legion Post 690 and can be dropped off in the Legion club room prior to Monday, Sept. 16. Checks can also be mailed to Attention Bill Pohlman, American Legion, 245 N. Elmwood Ave., Palatine, IL 60074 to arrive by Sept. 16.

“This is an opportunity for you to support the American Legion and have some fun,” said Mark Cramer, commander of the American Legion Post 690. “We will be teeing off at 1 p.m., and dinner will follow golf. The outing will be a scramble with prizes for men and women winners as well as Closest to the Pin, Closest to the Center Drive and Longest Putt.”

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919, as a patriotic veteran’s organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Palatine Chapter holds its monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
