Trump’s decline
Susan Estrich’s column on Aug. 24 was on target regarding Trump: “He has deteriorated and he continues to do so before our eyes.” After the scary assassination attempt, he said that he would take on a different “tone” that would be unifying and focus on issues. Instead, within a day or two, he doubled-down on his usual rhetoric, name-calling, insults, and rambling incoherently.
That’s scary enough, but more frightening is that he isn’t able to understand and follow his team’s new strategy and continues to “go off-script.” What’s to prevent him from doing that with executive orders, foreign relations … and the nuclear codes?
