Why gun laws aren’t working

The Daily Herald article "Westmont man gets probation in gun case" shows why gun control laws don't work to prevent illegal gun use. The man was arrested in possession of a pistol that was converted to fully automatic fire. This is a violation of the National Firearms Act and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $250,000, but he pled guilty to not having an Illinois Firearms Owners ID and was released with 2 years’ probation and time served. He was housed and fed at taxpayer expense for four and a half months and just let go. We don't need new laws, we need to enforce the ones we have.
