One person hospitalized after head-on crash in Antioch

A person was hospitalized in serious but stable condition after a crash in Antioch Thursday night, officials said.

Firefighters arrived on the scene of the head-on crash, which happened about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 173 and North 7th Avenue, according to a news release from the Antioch Fire Department.

Crews found two heavily damaged vehicles -- one off the road by 5th Avenue and the other two blocks east of 7th Avenue, the release stated.

There was an injured person in each vehicle: One was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious but stable condition. The other person didn’t want to be taken to the hospital, officials said.
