Taste of Glen Ellyn cooking up summer fun

The Taste of Glen Ellyn has all the essential ingredients of a late-summer festival.

Live music. Carnival rides. Everyone’s favorite kind of hand-held food — pizza — prepared by a downtown institution, Barone's of Glen Ellyn. Ice cream and cold drinks. And it seems to taste better with free parking and free admission to the family-friendly event.

The Taste concludes its three-day run Saturday at the College of DuPage in a campus parking lot off Lambert and College roads.

Rock cover bands — Vital Signs, Sealed with a Kiss and headliner 7th Heaven — will perform on the main stage.

Windy City Amusements has set up carnival rides and games for both kids and teens. A portion of the proceeds of the carnival will fund the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce scholarship program for high school students.

Festival and carnival hours are noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.
