Buffalo Grove Community Emergency Response Team sets training class; begins Sept. 24
The Buffalo Grove Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold its next training session on Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 24, from 7-10 p.m., for eight weeks, concluding with a four-hour final on a weekend day in mid-November.
Classes are held at Buffalo Grove Fire Department Headquarters, 1051 Highland Grove Drive, Buffalo Grove.
Comprised of village residents and others who work in the village, CERT members are trained in basic disaster response skills, including light search and rescue and disaster medical operations. CERT members assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
With training in First Aid, CPR and AED (defibrillator), CERT members also deploy to staff First Aid Stations at community events.
There is no cost for this training class, but completion of an application in advance is required.
For brochure, application, and more information, contact: Joe Wieser, Emergency Management Agency coordinator at (847) 537-0995, ext. 6108 or jwieser@vbg.org.
The CERT team invites you to visit its First Aid Station at Buffalo Grove Days to meet some of its members and have your questions answered.
