Officials: 64-year-old Grayslake woman identified as Gurnee crash victim

A woman who died after a two-vehicle crash in Gurnee Tuesday morning has been identified, officials said.

Sandra Booker, 64, Grayslake was in the southbound lanes of Route 41 waiting to turn left onto Delany Road when, for an unknown reason, she exited the turn lane and drove into the southbound lanes on Route 41 and her Honda sedan was struck by a semi-truck, according to police.

The crash pushed her car into a utility pole. Emergency workers had to extricate Booker from her vehicle. She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday determined Booker died from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
