Grayslake promotes longtime officer to police chief

The Grayslake village board has unanimously appointed veteran police officer Jeff Myhra as the community’s new police chief.

Myhra, who joined the department in 1997 and has served as deputy chief for the past 10 years, replaces the recently retired Phil Perlini as the village’s top cop.

A U.S. Army veteran, Myhra previously served the department as a community service officer, police officer, detective, sergeant and commander. He's also worked as an investigator with the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and is a multiple-time officer of the year award winner.

Myhra is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Staff and Command and earned a master’s degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University.
