Wondering about the immigration crisis
I wonder how many immigrants/migrants (legal and illegal) would actually come to the U.S. if we ended the magnets of birth citizenship, free health care, legal aid, education, welfare, chain migration and especially no requirement to assimilate and learn English.
I wonder if business leaders (and chamber of commerce) would push immigration/amnesty if they had to absorb all costs instead of being subsidized by taxpayers.
I wonder if the churches’ compassion would be so pro-immigration/migrants if they had to cover all costs. True charity is paying out of your own pocket, isn’t it? Compassion is easy when someone else pays.
I wonder if the American people would be so pro migration if the media honestly reported each and every violation (civil and criminal) of undocumented migrants as well as actual dollar costs for education, medical, welfare. Details of horrific crimes are deliberately not reported. Why?
And lastly, I wonder if our economy would improve ifimmigrants/migrants spent their earnings here instead of sending money to their home country, while we subsidize their living costs. Next to tourism, family remittances are the major revenue source for Mexico.
Correct the above and then we will see the true immigrant who comes for freedom, and sole purpose to work toward the American Dream to become American and contribute to America rather than to take from America.
That is the ideal immigrant we need and welcome with open arms.
