Wheaton Academy celebrates expansion with ribbon-cutting ceremony

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Wheaton Academy on Aug. 10 to mark the completion of the initial expansion of the school’s Academic Building and, with only $300K left to raise, the near conclusion of school’s $30 million capital campaign, “For Generations to Come.”

The ribbon was cut by lead donors Joe and Mary Slawek.

Campus enhancements included a new front entry, Business and Innovation Center, video production studio, student union, and 14 flexible learning spaces. The construction of these new spaces marks a significant milestone in the academy’s 170-year history of providing Christian education.

The school’s new makerspace, the IDEA Lab, remains under construction and is expected to be completed next winter, while the Cross Plaza will be dedicated during this fall’s homecoming festivities.

“We are excited to unveil these new spaces that will significantly enhance the educational experience for our students,” said Steve Bult, Head of School. “These updates reflect our commitment to providing a transformative education rooted in Biblical truth, while preparing students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”

Following the ceremony, visitors were invited to tour the new facilities and see firsthand the innovative spaces that Wheaton Academy students will enjoy this fall.

Doug Hardy, the new director of development, shared, “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to this campaign. The culture of generosity embodied by this community makes it possible for us to advance our mission and continue equipping students as the high-impact Christian leaders of the future.”

Established in 1853, Wheaton Academy is a private Christian high school with a mission to nurture growth in students through relationships, excellence, and service to the glory of God.
