WeGo Drama blasts off with ‘A Trip to the Moon’ Aug. 16-17
Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School starts their 2024-25 theatrical season with the slice-of-life-play “A Trip to the Moon.”
Tracy Wells’ play is about what was happening to Americans on the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon and the day of the Woodstock music festival.
Fifty-five years ago these days helped Americans feel the power of hope and possibilities. Through a series of vignettes, Wego Drama performs a play that makes the audience understand the complex relationships of all aspects of Americans.
The Wego Drama season theme is “Love, Theatre!” Wego Drama wants you to feel the love of nostalgia by taking “A Trip to the Moon.“
Junior Ava Bloniarz states, “Telling the story of what was happening to regular people on these iconic days has opened my eyes to the power of history.”
Senior Wilbur Cooper adds, “The idea of playing real and genuine people has been wonderful.”
The company of actors and crew for the show includes from Carol Stream: Ava Bloniarz and William Wenberg; from West Chicago: Lilyana Bonilla, Guadalupe Carreto, Wil Cooper, Jordin Crudup, August Gutierrez, Allison Komaniecki, Matthew Krysinski, Elisa O’Brien, Alejandra Rocha, Gracie Thibault, Gabriel Valenzuela, Ja’Nyah Villa, and Dayan Zenteno; and from Winfield: Bo Dragosh and Caiden McDougall.
The play is directed by Ava Bloniarz, Ja’Nyah Villa, and Mark Begovich. Technical direction and design is by Christopher Jensen.
“A Trip to the Moon“ is written by Tracy Wells. It is produced by an arrangement with Dramatic Publishing, Woodstock, Illinois.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16-17, at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St.
