Naperville kicks off National Night Out with a movie night Aug. 5

Not every neighborhood hosts a National Night Out event, so the city of Naperville, in partnership with the YMCA, is hosting a free community event the day before National Night Out.

Naperville’s National Night Out Kickoff will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, outside the Fry Family YMCA, 2120 95th St.

The event features free family fun, including entertainment and giveaways. Attendees can play in a bounce house, participate in games and activities, check out police equipment, and enjoy food for purchase from food trucks before setting up blankets or chairs to enjoy an outdoor showing of Disney's “Lilo & Stitch” at sunset. In the event of rain, the movie will be shown indoors.

Cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will occur simultaneously in dozens of neighborhoods throughout Naperville on National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Neighborhood event times vary. City departments will visit various locations between 5-8 p.m.
