Glen Ellyn to celebrate National Night Out with family fun, entertainment

Get ready for a night of family fun, community spirit, and supporting the Special Olympics!

The Glen Ellyn Police Department and Glen Ellyn Park District are teaming up to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newton Park, 707 Fairview Ave.

This free event is open to the public and promises entertainment, activities, safety awareness, and a chance to connect with your neighbors.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships nationwide. This year's Glen Ellyn celebration offers something for everyone.

Get up close and explore a variety of vehicles at the Touch-a-Truck. Witness the skills of evidence technicians and drone operators during the live demonstrations.

There also will be crafts where you can unleash your creativity with fun, hands-on activities, while enjoying live entertainment by Magic by Randy.

Beat the summer heat with free frozen treats (while supplies last). Or grab a bite to eat from Heavenly Hot Dogs.

Donations will be collected at the event to benefit the Special Olympics. Every donation will receive a raffle ticket to win a chance to tour the Glen Ellyn Police Department.
