AfterImage Film Fest, Fine Line to host ‘Best of Fest 2024’ Aug. 10

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles has partnered with AfterImage Film Festival to create “Best of Fest 2024,” an outdoor evening featuring a selection of the best short films from the 2024 edition of the AfterImage Film Festival.

Fine Line Creative Arts has been creating art experiences in the Fox Valley for over 40 years. The AfterImage Film Festival, which was held in April this year, is an annual celebration of independent film in the Fox Valley region of Illinois.

The event on Saturday, Aug. 10, includes several short films including “Purebred Passion” and “Walking on Clouds.”

“Purebred Passion” takes viewers into the competitive spirit of The Great American Dog Show, a weekend-long dog show competition held at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center. ⁤The film explores the meticulous canine preparation process, the strategies behind each performance, and the deep bond between handlers and their dogs. There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker after the screening.

“Walking on Clouds” shows a Highline crossing between two hot air balloons in Praia Grande, Santa Catarina, Brazil, by athlete Rafael Bridi in 2021.

As well as the fantastic films, the evening will include great food to purchase from Le Truff Noir along with beer and wine.

The doors open at 7 p.m. The screening will begin at 8:30 p.m. There is ample free on-site parking. Attendees are encouraged to come at 7 p.m. to secure their spot on the grass and enjoy great food and wine before the screening starts. If there are weather issues, the event will take place inside Fine Line’s Kavanagh Gallery, 37W570 Bolcum Road.

Attendees should bring their blankets, lawn chairs, and friends for a memorable summer night with fantastic films and good company.

Tickets cost $20 per person and can be purchased online at www.fineline.org or by calling Fine Line at (630) 584-9443 from Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
