Founders Day festival moves to Ted Spella Park

The second night of the 2024 Algonquin Founders’ Days festival moved to Ted Spella Park behind the Algonquin Area Public Library on Harnish Road Friday evening. The first day of the festival was celebrated in downtown Algonquin.

The theme celebrated Hollywood and festivalgoers were encouraged to come dressed as their favorite movie character.

The Taste of Algonquin and a beer garden opened the festival at 5 p.m. and a bags tournament started at 6 p.m. Rok Brigade, a Chicago-based Def Leppard tribute band, played at 6 p.m. followed by 7th heaven.

The festival begins today with a parade on Main Street at 11 a.m. and the gates at Ted Spella Park open at 3 p.m. The Social Garden (beer garden) opens at the same time as do the food booths and bouncy houses for children. Parade costume winners will be announce at 4 p.m. and another bags tournament starts at 4:30. Bands at Ted Spella Park on Saturday include Focal Point at 4:30, Hairbangers Ball at 6:00 and Arra at 8:30 p.m. Gates close at 11 p.m. While on Sunday, Pino Farina Band begins at 4:30 followed by Jimmy Nick and Don’t Tell Mama at 7 p.m.
