Antioch approves second cannabis dispensary

A second recreational cannabis dispensary has been approved in Antioch.

Village officials this past week approved a special use and variance for a dispensary to be located at 417 E. Route 173.

The applicant, JG Il LLC wants to open a dispensary in two storefronts in a shopping center that includes Walmart and Menards.

All cannabis dispensaries in Antioch require a special use permit. This application requires a variance because it is within 1,000 feet of an existing day care facility, according to the village.

It is expected to open in six to nine months. Consume Cannabis Company, 471 Main St., is the village’s first and only dispensary.
