Palatine begins largest sidewalk replacement program in village history
Palatine will have the largest sidewalk replacement program in village history this year, due to an additional $1.03 million in funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.
The target areas are roughly from Lake-Cook Road south to Northwest Highway and Cunningham Drive between Quentin Road and Hicks Road, and from Rand Road south to Baldwin Road and Palatine Road between Hicks Road and Route 53.
Work is expected to begin this week and finish in August.
Designated sidewalks are removed and the new concrete is typically placed within 48 hours. The sidewalk is reopened after the new concrete has cured, which is usually within three days. Residents who will be unable to access their driveways due to sidewalk removal and replacement will be notified via a letter one day prior to the anticipated removal date.
