Party should gently ‘take the car keys’

Not every Republican Trump supporter agrees with all of Trump's remarks and actions. Not all Democrats (I’m one) always agree with Joe Biden. What we saw on debate night was troubling, causing viewers to question Biden’s fitness for office and once again witness Trump’s lack of ability to respond truthfully. But as Trump supporters are willing to overlook his frightening flaws, it leaves Democrats thinking they have no other choice: Biden.

However, if Biden did not run, Kamala Harris would be the logical Democratic presidential candidate. That is a practical choice as the Democratic Party’s enormous campaign funds would smoothly go to a Harris’ candidacy.

Harris is not high on a majority of Democrats’ Hit Parades. Mostly because we haven’t had opportunities to get comfortable with her energy or her strengths. If she were to take up the challenge, if Biden steps down, we need a crash course in what a Harris presidency would look like. And if this happens, then a smart, energetic young candidate needs to become her Vice President.

We need creative leadership to cope with this world’’s increasing domestic and global challenges. This ticket could win. Democratic leadership, take the car keys — gently.
