Our Saviour’s Church to host ‘Hidden Figures’ screening July 17
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, with two campuses in central Naperville, will host a free viewing and discussion of “Hidden Figures” starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Celebration Campus, 919 S. Washington St.
“Hidden Figures” (2016, PG) is the second movie in the church’s “Courageous Conversations: Faith & Film” summer series, which features a free movie viewing and discussion each month. The series debuted last month with “Barbie” and continues Sunday, Aug. 11, with a showing of Disney/Pixar’s “WALL-E” (2008, G).
All are invited to come and consider these popular movies from a faith perspective, with families welcomed and encouraged to attend together. Blankets, lawn chairs and snacks are welcome; tables and chairs also will be set out in the viewing area in the OSLC Celebration Campus gym.
“Movies tell powerful stories of the human experience, and while not always explicitly ‘religious,’ the stories often raise theological themes and questions,” said Our Saviour’s Associate Pastor Elisabeth Pynn Himmelman, who organized the “Faith & Film” series and will lead the “Hidden Figures” discussion on July 17.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville, a member of the Chicago-based Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, welcomes all to worship on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings and to participate in the church’s range of special events and volunteer opportunities.
