Long-term closure of Atkinson Road bridge over I-94 to begin
A long-term closure and detour of the Atkinson Road Bridge over the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) in Lake County is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 10, and continue into early August as part of bridge repair work.
The full closure is necessary because the local bridge over I-94 is too narrow to accommodate traffic while safely completing the work.
Construction will include bridge deck, beam and structural concrete repairs.
Message boards and signage will alert drivers to the closure. Detour and project information will be posted at the traffic and construction alerts section of the tollway website, illinoistollway.com/.
Traffic will be detoured via Waukegan Road, Buckley Road and Saint Mary’s Road.
