New Tradition Chorus to perform Aug. 25 at Huntley church

The award-winning a cappella New Tradition Chorus will perform on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley.

Sponsored by the SOTP Artist Series, the public is invited to hear the chorus’ talented four-part close harmony associated with the barbershop style. The concert will be 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, 10805 Main St.

Its entertaining performance will include a large variety of music from many genres. No tickets are required and freewill donations are gratefully accepted.

The New Tradition Chorus is an award-winning a cappella chorus singing in the range with members from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Through a cappella performances of diverse musical styles, the New Tradition Chorus strives to delight audiences and enrich lives through song.

Chartered in 1982, this Illinois District chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society has a long-standing reputation for delighting audiences through exciting harmonies and memorable performances of songs spanning decades and genres.

The chorus has medaled 19 times since 1988, including a Gold Medal in 2001. The chorus has performed at numerous venues throughout the Chicago area, including the Arie Crown Theatre, Copernicus Center, Navy Pier (Democratic National Convention Media Party), Chicago White Sox games, Chicago Bears halftime shows, Wilmette Summer Festival, Schaumburg Summer Series, Lake Zurich Centennial, and the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The chorus has also performed on prominent stages across the U.S. and Europe.
