Our republic is slipping away
At the end of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked whether we had a republic or a monarchy. He famously replied, 'A republic, if you can keep it.' In 2023, our republic is slipping away. Two of the three branches of government have become totally corrupt. House Speaker Mike Johnson will do anything he can to suck up to Trump and push his Christian Nationalist agenda. The so-called conservatives on the Supreme Court have proved through recent rulings that they are partisan hacks, beholden to King Donald. This next election is not about preserving our republic, but restoring it.
