Elgin Elks Lodge No. 737 to ‘Step It Up’ with donation of 250 pairs of shoes

Elgin Elks Lodge No. 737 is contributing to the Step It Up Program for the ninth year.

The local Elks will donate more than 250 pairs of athletic shoes to the Step It Up drive on Saturday, Aug. 3, at First Baptist Church in Elgin.

The program gives a free pair of shoes to kids in need for school. The Elks lodge received two grants, totaling $7,500 from the National Elks Foundation.

Donations from United Commercial Travelers, Elgin United Civic and lodge members added to a total of $8,355 to purchase the shoes.
