Naperville man charged with in stabbing death of ex-wife
A 55-year-old Naperville man faces murder charges for the fatal stabbing of his ex-wife Saturday.
Zokir S. Kudratov faces two counts of first-degree murder and will appear before a Will County judge on Wednesday for a detention hearing. Kudratov was in court on Monday. He requested an interpreter and was assigned a public defender, according to an official from the Will County state’s attorney’s office.
Naperville police were dispatched to a home on the 2500 block of Saddlebrook Drive around 9:37 a.m. Saturday in response to reports of a person not breathing, authorities said. When officers arrived, they found several people in the home, including a Kudratov’s ex-wife, who had been stabbed numerous times, Naperville police said.
The two lived in the same home but on separate floors. According to a news release, police believe Kudratov argued with his ex-wife before stabbing her with a knife he had in his possession.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
“First and foremost, the entire Naperville Police Department sends our sincere condolences to the victim’s family,” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said in a written statement. “To say these incidents are some of the most challenging and heartbreaking in policing is an understatement.”
