The majority has spoken, twice

A reader writes: “Trump’s history shows the ability and desire to move our country in the direction that the majority of Americans support.”

If that were true, then how come he’s never won the vote of the majority of Americans? He’s been soundly beaten in the popular vote not once but twice.
